Working to make Corsham and Wiltshire global digital hubs

2015-01-21_Corsham_Institute_Michelle_DonelanThis week I met with some of the Corsham Institute team including their Chairman Jeffrey Thomas – they are working to make Corsham and Wiltshire global digital hubs.

Corsham town lies at the centre of a number of networks, both technological and cultural. The unique location of Corsham makes it an excellent location for people and business to prosper.

Corsham is also home to Europe’s largest data centre – The Ark data centre at Spring Park campus. I was given a tour of the UK’s largest and most advanced, sustainable, digital infrastructure campus.

Spring Park has seen over £250m of investment to date and the infrastructure has sufficient power and network capacity to deliver the data platforms and connectivity required by one of the worlds leading digital institutes.

Corsham Institute are working with Bath Spa University on plans to move its Postgraduate Certificate in Education (PGCE) activities into the ‘Institute for Education’, a new purpose built facility at Hartham Park, from September 2016. This would be a massive boost to Wiltshire – something that I will be working to help achieve as well as supporting the work to make Corsham and Wiltshire digital hubs.
