It was a honour to attend the presentation of the Queen’s Award for Enterprise which rightly recognised how Melksham company Coombe Castle International has become a major competitor in the global market and is richly deserved. Coombe Castle is a brilliant example of what British companies can achieve.

This is the fourth time that this company has won the award and it was the only winner in Wiltshire this year – a fantastic achievement by all the staff.

Following on from the Crime Forums I have been running and have planned across the constituency, I was able to meet this week with Angus Macpherson, the Police and Crime Commissioner for Wiltshire, and raise with him some of the issues which have been brought to my attention by constituents.

Whilst Wiltshire remains a low crime area, it is vitally important that we tackle individual and rural crime and ensure that people feel confident in reporting crime which has taken place, in the knowledge that action will be taken.

I was delighted that the Crime Commissioner was able to confirm that there will be no reductions in police numbers in the coming year and that targeted action on burglary rates and 101 waiting times are already having significant positive impacts.

I will continue to fight for more funding for policing in Wiltshire but can only do this if people report the crime which takes place so I am particularly pleased to hear of the fall in call answering times and improvements in crime reporting using the 101 service.

I have Crime Forums planned in Bradford on Avon and Melksham in September and would love to hear your views and concerns so please do get in touch for further information on the number below.

With the Parliamentary Summer Recess now starting, my Meet your MP Roadshow in full swing and plenty of door knocking planned, I am looking forward to meeting as many of you as possible in the coming month.

It was a real pleasure to speak to so many constituents and once again take part in the Melksham Party in the Park, the weather was perfect and the event even bigger and better than last year and my luck held out in the tombola, which made for a fantastic day.

With a large number stalls to visit, it was wonderful to catch up with the team at Wiltshire Air Ambulance, help NatWest promote staying safe online with their new community banking team and speak to some of the local schools and businesses.

There is no appointment necessary for any of my roadshow events so please do get in touch with my office on 01249 704465 or email me direct on michelle.donelan.mp@parliament.uk for dates and venues or keep your eye out for adverts in the local press.
