The need to push and promote tourism in our area for more local jobs

Tourism is vital to our area and I will continue to push and promote the amazing array that we have to offer. This week I met with regional and local National Trust representatives in Lacock, to discuss just this.

Last month the government launched a new five point plan designed to boost tourism across the region. Almost 1 in 10 jobs in the UK are in tourism related industries. Expansion of the local sector offers a good opportunity for local job creation. Which is at the top of my agenda.

A £5 million fund for the South – West will position the area as a must – see destination. I will be working with local partners to ensure that the money is used efficiently for our area.
