Yesterday I spoke on the Statement regarding a damming report by into Liverpool Community Health (LCH).
I agreed with the Minister’s commitment to exposing failings in the NHS especially when those failings harm people. I also made the point that efficiency and safety is not just down to money but also strong leadership and responsible management.
I like every Brit love our National Health Service and cases like this are not only unacceptable but also horrific. I commend the work of the Labour MP for West Lancashire in helping to expose it.
The report by Dr Bill Kirkup said patients suffered “unnecessary harm” because a senior leadership team was “out of its depth”, nonetheless the trust set out to achieve foundation status, setting “unfeasible financial targets that damaged patient services”.
