Delighted to speak at the Royal Aeronautical Society 20th Anniversary Careers Service. They launched their new aerospace/aviation careers policy paper based on new research into the perceptions of the industry among young people.
Improving our careers service is vital and a passion of mine. In fact last week at an Education Select Committee Hearing I questioned the Secretary of State Justine Greening on this topic. I asked when the new Careers Strategy will be published and stressed the importance of linking it to the labour market and actively promoting the jobs we need such as engineering and STEM related roles, medics, teachers etc. The Careers strategy does need to be forward thinking and apply to all of the UK to replace the passive and patchy career service that we currently have.
