Today is Holocaust Memorial Day marking the 77th anniversary of the Liberation of Auschwitz. The victims of the Holocaust should never be forgotten and we must always stand against hatred and eradicate antisemitism from society.
In my role as Higher and Further Education Minister I have worked to tackle antisemitism on campus. Since I became Minister the number of universities signing the IHRA definition of antisemitism has tripled. But there is much more to do and yesterday I held a summit with the Education Secretary and various key stakeholders to discuss what more can be done to stamp out this scourge.
Don’t forget to light a candle at 8pm tonight and put it in your windows to remember those who were murdered and stand against prejudice and hatred today.
