Last Friday I was delighted to launch my Kickstart Event at Neeld Community & Arts Centre, celebrating the Kickstart Scheme which is front and centre of our mission to support young people back into employment.
We had some fantastic speakers including the Minister for Employment Mims Davies MP, local employers Denise Purpol Marketing and Alison Edgar MBE, together with two young people who showed courage in speaking about how they went from unemployment to success through the scheme.
With the Government funding the salary, national insurance contributions and automatic enrolment contributions of an unemployed 16-24-year-old for six months, the Kickstart Scheme is a fantastic opportunity for local employers.
