Today, Thursday 1st July, Melksham will be given the opportunity to vote on its Neighbourhood Plan.
The plan does not set housing numbers but, if approved, would protect Melksham from speculative development and ensure that residents’ priorities are considered in town’s future growth. An example of the plan’s impact is the key role it played in the withdrawal of the application to build 150 houses to the south of Woodrow Road. Aspects such as the environment and biodiversity, housing and infrastructure, employment, community well-being, locally distinctive architecture and Melksham’s heritage will become core considerations within the planning framework. This plan has been made by the community and will work for the community.
