is an issue I care deeply about and as your MP, I have long supported the End the Cage Age campaign - which pushed for an end to caged farming altogether 
. I have a strong voting record on animal welfare in Parliament and I worked to have mandatory CCTV in slaughterhouses 
As we have left the EU, we have the power to go further and faster to protect animals from harm. The 
was the first country to introduce animal cruelty offences and we are the 
ranked G7 nation according to the World Animal Protection’s Index

We have just announced that we will be bringing in tougher powers to tackle illegal cat and dog smuggling.
We are also raising 
the minimum age for importing a puppy or kitten from 15 weeks to 
months, allowing them to grow up before being taken on a stressful journey
