To protect jobs and livelihoods over the next month and through the winter, there have been some important new announcements which I have been pushing for, meaning that as many local businesses as possible will have access to support:
The Coronavirus Job Retention Scheme (the furlough) will now run until 31st March, with the Government will support 80% of employees’ wages.
The eligible self-employed will receive 80% of their trading profits covering the same six-month period, with instalments every three months
Businesses that are forced to close due to restrictions will receive up to £3,000 per four weeks they are closed
Wiltshire Council will receive additional funding to support local businesses who do not directly pay business rates and businesses who do not have to close but have been impacted
Existing Loan Schemes and the Future Fund are being extended to the end of January and businesses will also be able to top-up Bounce Back Loans if they previously borrowed less than their maximum.
An extension to the mortgage payment holiday for homeowners
