I am deeply concerned with the delays experienced by DVLA.
I have received over 60 complaints in the last year from constituents regarding the extensive delays when trying to renew their licence. In some instances, applicants had been waiting over a year for their licence.
For many people, a licence is vital to their ability to earn a living and feed their family. However, this is in jeopardy if they must wait a year for the DVLA to accept their licence renewal or application.
I wrote to the DVLA regarding each of the concerns raised by my constituents and I am pleased to say that this has resulted in licences being swiftly issued.
I also wrote to the Rt. Hon. Grant Shapps MP the Secretary of State for Transport, and I asked him to address what actions are being taken to improve the DVLA and reduce the delay that applicants are receiving.
The photo I have attached to this post is the response that I received from Grant Shapps.
If you live in the Chippenham constituency and are experiencing a delay with the DVLA then please do contact me via [email protected].
If your licence has expired and you are currently waiting for it to be renewed, then you may be still eligible to drive. Section 88 of The Road Traffic Act 1988 allows you to continuing driving if you match the specific criteria. For more information, please follow this link
