We simply must do all we can to help the innocent people of Ukraine many of whom have been forced to flee their homes to safety.
We currently have the extended family route open which can enable up to 200,000 Ukraine to enter. I have spoken with Ministers about the refugee schemes and how we can streamline it to speed it up - Ministers have changed it so Ukrainian passport holders won't need to go to a Visa Application Centre to give their biometrics before they come here.
I have also spoken to Rt Hon Michael Gove who has announced the Homes for Ukraine scheme, which will offer a route to those who want to come to the UK and who have someone here willing to provide them with a home.
I will work with our community to do all I can to help offer sanctuary to as many Ukrainian refugees as possible.
