I have been in touch with Dawid Fedyk and because of the amazing generosity displayed by Wiltshire residents they are bursting at the seams so we won’t be reopening for collections.
We had intended to reopen but we are working with Dawid and his team who are prioritising ensuring all items are sorted and make it to the front line. I know it’s disappointing but I don’t want to take items that we can’t promise to get there.
I would like to once again thank you for your kindness - it really shows the strength of our community.
If you want to help I’d strongly recommend you donate - this money will go direct and the first 25M is being match funded by the government https://donation.dec.org.uk/ukraine-humanitarian-appeal
If you still have items to give then I’d recommend giving to one of our charity shops but if you do find another collection initiative do check it is like the one we worked with because otherwise it adds to the problem rather than helping i.e.
- it’s in contact and working with a registered charity on the ground like the Red Cross so only what is needed is actually sent
- it’s all sorted into categories here first
- it is organised by someone who has contacts on the ground and has arranged their own storage and distribution team and process so there is no extra work or cost for Polish administration
