With some of the miserable weather we have had over the past few weeks - I am spotting more and more potholes on our roads
I have been making our case for extra funding to help Our Wiltshire to resurface our roads and I have just been told by Mark Harper, Secretary of State for Transport, that Wiltshire will be getting an extra £𝟖𝟏,𝟖𝟔𝟗,𝟎𝟎𝟎. This works out as an 30% increase for 2023/24 compared to 2022/23.
Our Wiltshire recently agreed to invest £10 million of extra funding - which is on top of the £14 million that the council will spend this financial year on highways maintenance. This extra money will be spent on preventative maintenance and a road resurfacing scheme including small local repairs to the highways; verge repairs on rural roads and materials support to volunteers working on public rights of way.
I will be pressing Our Wiltshire to make sure they use this extra pot of money to fill in potholes and resurface the roads in our area which are looking a little worse for wear. In the meantime - please report any potholes on the MyWilts app or via https://www.wiltshire.gov.uk/mywilts-online-reporting
Comment below or send me an email [email protected] on the roads in our area most in need of a bit of TLC.
