Useful meeting in Lacock on Tuesday night which I organised for the village to discuss traffic, with Cllr Dr Mark McClelland, Officer Dave Thomas from Wiltshire Council, Chair of the Parish Council Jane Durrant and Ian Wilson from the National Trust.
The whole village was made aware beforehand and there was a great turnout - there was a clear consensus from folk there that the speed limit in the village should be lowered to 20mph, along with other improvements to manage traffic flow. I will work to push this forward and break down the barriers - for one the National Trust have said they can look at potentially helping with funding.
Traffic management and speed limits are the domain of Wiltshire Council but I held a meeting a while back with villagers and the council. After listening to residents concerns this led to the Council commissioning a strategic overview of what needs to be done - so now we need that to progress, hence the need for another meeting.
Massive shout out to the Parish Council who have been working hard on these issues.
Tuesday night the Council committed to meeting with the Parish Council and National Trust to bottom out a way forward to crack on, focusing on the speed limit in particular.
