For the past eighteen months I have worked with family businesses and high street stores across the constituency to get the support they need.
This week the Chancellor announced a new one year 50% business rates discount for retail, hospitality and leisure sectors to support the local business we value and make the system fairer, more responsive and more supportive of investment.
Taken together, we have cut business rates by £7bn. This is a huge step forward in our economic recovery and it means, for 2022-23, over 90% of retail, hospitality and leisure will receive at least 50% off their business rates bill.
