Great to see local coverage in Wiltshire Times of the £5 million Levelling Up Fund bid for Melksham House which I led. The second round of funding has opened and I’m by no means deterred - when Parliament returns next month I’ll be making sure that Ministers at the Department for Levelling Up are very familiar with Melksham House and our bid!
I have also worked with local councillors to agree with Wiltshire Council that if the bid is successful, the existing funding allocated to Melksham House will be used to regenerate other sites in the town.
This means that our bid succeeding would not just mean investment for Melksham House, bringing a vital community asset with a long history back into use, but also securing investment for other areas of the town. I’ve previously run a survey to hear the town’s views on where this funding should be spent, and on what services, so a successful bid would be promising news for the whole of Melksham and the areas nearby.
