This week I visited Coombe Castle International Ltd based in Melksham. They export cream, cheese and butter to the four corners of the globe. What a credit to Wiltshire to have such a powerful global name based in our county – we need to protect, promote and assist local companies like this. I am standing to be our next Member of Parliament to do just this and help create and protect local jobs.
The visit brought up a number of issues including the decline and hardship faced by dairy farmers. In addition the challenges of exporting food out of the UK as commercial goods – something I will be addressing with Liz Truss MP – The Secretary of State for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs.
