Interesting meeting at Sainsbury’s, Chippenham last week to hear about their community work and apprenticeship schemes. They are one of the only stores in the UK to have a full time employee dedicated to working with local charities, schools and community groups. I also discussed their plans for reducing food waste and helping local food banks.
They currently have apprenticeship schemes in skilled traded such as fish mongering and butchery as well as management. It is important that big business and not just small, help to improve and be part of our community, support local charities and invest in local people to get on a career ladder.
