This week we debated The Financial Guidance and Claims bill again. I have supported this bill all the way through and was an active member on the bill committee. Breaking the cycle of debt and ensuring people have the help they need is crucial to creating a country full of opportunities and not road blocks. This bill also provides the advise and support under one body for pension information. A key area that the bill addresses is nuisance calls, more commonly known as cold calling. On Tuesday I supported a vote to give the bill the provision for a ban on pension cold calling to be put in place by June and extend a ban to other forms of consumer financial products and services.
