£2.8m to extend fibre broadband coverage

Good news £2.8 million is being used to further extend fibre broadband coverage.

Wiltshire Council and BT confirmed that more than 5,000 additional homes and businesses across the county are to benefit from access to fibre broadband. Since the Government’s Broadband Delivery UK programme began in 2013, Wiltshire Council and BT teamed up to make fibre broadband available to more than 83,000 homes and businesses across the county.

This high demand has resulted in £2.8 million being reinvested in the programme to further increase fibre broadband coverage in communities across the county. You can check your postcode here: http://www.wiltshireonline.org/index.php/broadband-rollout/find-your-postcode

The Wiltshire Online programme is making the high-speed technology available in areas which fall outside the private sector’s commercial roll-out of fibre broadband. I am delighted that crucial steps are being made to have 100% coverage across Wiltshire.
